The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy announced a strategy to secure key minerals on Monday, designating 10 minerals needed for semiconductor and battery production, including lithium and nickel, as key minerals and giving them priority management, Korea Radio International reported on Monday.


The Ministry of Industry and Trade has selected 33 minerals needed for cutting-edge industries such as semiconductors and batteries, and designated 10 of them as the top 10 strategic key minerals for priority management.
The top 10 minerals include lithium, nickel, cobalt, manganese, graphite and rare earths. The government will develop a global mineral map and supply and demand map for key minerals and set up an early warning system.
